One question- do you have the front bumper cover off? There is a bracket under the headlight assembly to hold the cover in place and that is probably what is holding you up.
no, the assembly is entirely loose..i just cant pull it out because its so big.
i was actually trying to take off the bumper cover, but there are screws under the headlight that are holding the bumper in still.
the entire assembly is just so big, so i was asking if the back frame piece of the headlight could be seperated...

you will have to remove the front bumper. take off your bumper lights, there are two bolts on either side that hold the bumper support to the radiator core support. take those out along with the bolt on either side that holds the bumper cover to the fender. once you have that removed the bumper support and bumper should come right off. oh yeah you also need to pop out the little clips that hold your fender liner in. once you remove the bumper the headlights will come right out. i have done this a few times to black out headlights.
i did unbolt the headlights...4 bolts for each headlight...BUT what about the screws along the top of the bumper...i believe there are 7. . .4 which are blocked by the headlights?
it looks like the screws along the top of the bumper cover go into the bumper support
