Radiator Replacement Advice
I have a 96 Integra SE, manual trans, and am getting ready to replace my radiator and was wondering if there are any difficulties to look out for. It looks fairly straight forward. Take off cap, Drain through plug on radiator, unhook resivor hose, unplug fans, remove bolts, remove two main hoses, pull old radiator, remove fans and install on new radiator, put plug in new radiator, drop new radiator in, plug fans back in, reattach two main hoses, reattach resivor hose, reattach mounting bracketts, fill system with coolant, put cap back on, and I'm done.
Did I leave anything out? I got a brand new radiator from a local shop for $150.-Best deal I could find. Also, should I flush the system before installing the new radiator. Is the return hose for the system the hose on top?
One last thing. I've heard that the 150,000 mile coolant is better to use because it contains no silicates, phosphates, nitrates, borates or amines. Those chemicals supposedly break down the seal on your water pump and corrode the aluminum in your engine. Has anyone else heard this?
Thanks so much
