Yeah. It'll retard the timing, and richen the mix if the knock sensor goes off, or if some other variables are detected.

Yep. All VTEC motors have them. (As far as I'm aware... prolly some exception though.)

Then your car would immediately stop running as soon as it throws a code it would come to a screeching halt on the freeway at 3am in 0 degree weather or wherever you may be and you would be stuck until a towtruck driver can come and pick you up. That is why it is built with a limp mode so that you can continue to drive if one or more sensors ceases to exist, so you won't be left out in the cold. If you would like to read along about Honda ecus and how they function etc. I suggest looking here at my friend Dave's website.

Oh yeah on the knock sensors the only OBD0 motor would be the B16, SOHC OBD1 D motors do not have knock sensors just all DOHC VTEC motors.

My PR3 had a SERIOUS "limp mode" when it threw a MAP sensor code from the MAP sensing boost. MAN, the car felt like ***, and would hardly limp around at 1/8th throttle when it threw that code.

Some homeless drunk stumbled up to me yesterday and yelled "the British are coming, the British are coming." It's amazing what "some" people will tell you.

And I think it depends on the type of code(or combination of codes) as to whether it goes into limp mode. But then again, I'm just some guy on the internet.

I have a pwo ecu. I am also using a B16 in my Civic. My Noc sensor was not hooked up. My car was quick. My secondaries opened but V-tec was useless. It was running a lot richer. You could smell the gas. By some wierd flook my V-tec opened up once under limp mode and I had to get it fixed right away. Wooooo hoooo.

You are aware that the B16a doesn't have "secondaries", right? Those were only on the H22 and the B18c1.

Get your facts straight. Misinformation >>>>> yuo.

The pm6/pr4/pm7's do have a limp mode. In fact, on the external rom ecus you can even remove the rom itself and the car will always run in limp mode. I once burnt a chip, put it in, and wondered why it ran so ***, then I realized I had just told my burner to erase the 29c256 without writing to it.
