Default HID wiring

I purchased the Philips HID kit for my gs-r and I hooked up the passenger side. No problems. I hooked up the driver side and it worked for a second, then stopped. I checked the fuse and it burnt out. So I replaced it with another 10 amp fuse. That didnt work. Then I replaced it with a 15 amp fuse, then 20, then 25, still doesnt work. But if I put a regular bulb (non HID) it works. Does anyone know what is going on. Im thinking there is not enough current to make the HIDS work but just barely enough to make the regular bulbs work. Also, I tested both HID ballasts and bulbs and they work fine on the passenger side.

Check to make sure you have a good ground for the drivers side light. If the ground is not making good contact the draw will overheat the fuse...

So only the driver's side isn't working? Assuming it's plug and play, check to make sure the wiring from the ballast to the bulb housing is unobstructed. It's hard making a clean installation on the driver's side due to the limited space. I had the same problem with the bulb on that side not lighting and decided to mess around with the wiring; everything has been fine so far. 15 amps should also be enough to power the HIDs.

No, no, no you need either a 20A or 15 A fuse, the HID's have a higher electrical draw initially (compared to stock halogens) and that's why you're blowing fuses.

...also make sure you are replacing the low beam fuse, I heard of a guy with HID's having the same problem and it turned out he had been swapping out the wrong fuses. I've been running 20A fuses for about 6 weeks and haven't had one problem.

Hey Big Ed, I know this is off topic, but what is an OMP Rear Strut Tower Brace. Is that an actual bar, or just a brace to support a bar? What does OMP stand for?

Anyway, with your H.I.D.'s, check your fuses (the right ones), your ground wire connections, and that is a start. Have you tried puttin back the stock Halogen lights to see if they will work?

Hey guys, thanks for your replies, I have tried using the 15amp and 20amp fuse, and also using the stock halogen bulbs on the drivers side (pass works fine) , the stock halogen bulbs work, but the actual HID kit doesn't, maybe I can clarify a little more. A long time ago, I bought cheap *** hyper white bulbs, it melted my connector, so I bought another connector and soldered it, thats fine now. I purchased the HID kit and I hooked it up to where the negative met the positive and the postive met the negative, whoops, okay my fault there, but the lights were still working, so I switched it to where the negative connected to negative and positive connected to positive, it didnt work, check my fuses, it was burnt out, so I replaced the fuse, now the only thing that works is my stock halogen bulbs, I am stumped, someone told me it could be the relay???

You probably have the wrong bulbs serenity, when mine first turns on it's a deep blue, then 20 seconds later its a white blue. It never goes to yellow..or even fully white. there is always some blue tint to the lights.

What brand did you use? How long did you use them for?

Argh.. seeing your lights truly pisses me off...
The kit that I purchase are teh Vision HID kit. They consists of 2 Phillips ballast, 2 D2S Osram bulbs and the relays and wiring.

The lights that you are showing is in no way the output that i'm getting at all... Also I am not understanding, some people such as someone who previous posted stated that their BMW is doing the same thing as my HID kit.

However, I have seen my friend's HID kit and like the previous post before you Tony, the lights when first turned on are deep blue then it become really bright white w/ a hint of blusih.

From research, and asking ppl form teh Phillips forum, my problems with teh HID's are common because it is due to the new generation bulbs. Which makes me think that only the old kits consist of the bright bluish/ whitish color. I dunno...

If I may ask wat HID Kit did you purchase and how long ago.

Thanks

Since your passenger side is working and your driver side is not, try swapping the ballast/bulb (the whole kit) from the passenger side to the driver side...if it blows the fuse still, something wrong with your harness...if the working side still work after the switch, something wrong with your HID ballast/starter....send it back.
