Default Sanding before final coat of paint... what grit? wet or dry?

Well i'm almost done painting my LS Mesh wheels. But before i do the final coats, i want to sand down the previous coats a little to smooth them out. What grit should i use for this? and should i wet sand? or just do it dry? if you say wet, why? and how is it done exactly? Thanks

i would try 2000 grit. if you are skilled with the spraycan, you wont need to sand.

This was my first time painting anything big, like wheels. No parts are messed up, they actually look pretty good. It's just some spots are a little smoother than others. For final coats, should i do them heavy or light?
