Default opinion- my bro's intake options

my bro picked up an auto 96 accord, bone stock. the mileage is pretty bad. we havent done maintenance yet, but im pretty sure the intake filter is dirty as a **** and the plugs need to be replaced.

i was thinking about just getting a drop in k&n filter for him, which runs for lke $42+. or getting a generic intake off ebay. dam those vendors want $20+ for shipping, gosh dang.

what you guys think. im leaning more on the whole intake now, shouldnt be much more than the k&n filter alone. now i just need to find a local shop that sells them cheap!

dont waste ur time with a generic, i had one on my accord for a lil while because i got it for free from a friend, it made me LOSE power. it felt like it was boggin down a lot and the only thing i got outta it was sound, which wasnt enough, EASILY not enough. dont waste ur money on generic ****. go for brand name.

lol its all a metal pipe with a filter on the end why pay 150 for a brand name when you can get the same thing for 40 the only difference is the type of filter and you can get a good new one for $20

It really doesnt matter THAT much.. Good insulated piping is all that matters.. and a good flowing filter.. how fancy do you need to get when sucking air in? Its probably the least important performance part to me and everyone I know.

B.T.W - Injen is a waste of money

yeah intakes are basically a waste of time when it comes to hp gains/money spent. but if youre gonna do it, might as well go with someone that gaurantees you gains, instead of spending money on something that will cost you 40 and give you nothing to even - power increase.

get generic intake piping off ebay and a brand name filter, like k&n. the piping doesn't matter, filter does. though the difference between a name brand and generic filter would be minimal.

DUUUUUUDES, they have these really smart guys who create this pipes with intricate curves that make up something so awesome. no but for real, when it comes to intake, go with knock-off, but try not to cheap out when you are modding your car.

I have a 1996 Accord LX Auto

Anyway, first mod I did was take off the airbox and replace with A: home depot metal pipe B: k&n cone filter. Ghettofabulous, but worked ok. Only problem it was short ram and rested exactly where the stock box lay.

Anyway, I got an ebay cold air intake for like $40 shipped and i basically saved my k&n filter and plugged it on the end of it.....works pretty good, nicer sound and
