Car having trouble starting / Belt(s) squeaking at startup
I have a 1994 GSR:
Well, IF my car decides to start up I will always hear a belt or belts squeaking. The squeaking will stop after a second or two. Today, I couldn't get the car to start. So I waited a few mins, then started it. Then everytime I would rev the motor the belts would squeak bad. After 5 seconds the squeaking stopped. Am I dealing with a loose belt or is there another problem I should address?
If I am dealing with a loose belt, which belt should I look at, where is this belt, and how many belts do I have in my engine bay?
The car NEVER dies once I get it going.

TTT problem is getting worse. Also, there is a high pitched, but not loud, sound coming from my ABS. Is this normal? Please help guys.
pop the hood and you should see the belts in plain view on the driver side. check the tension. if they are loose you should be able to tell immediately. My guess would be the alternator belt is loose and not charging the battery all the way and giving you startup problems.
if you hear the belts squeal on startup its the alternator belt, jsut make sure its really tight...if you hear squealing after like when braking its the power steering belt ect.
when was the last time u change ur belt...if u dont change them than soon it will stop cranking and your valve and piston could be fucked... my 95 integra makes noise everytime i rev... i found out it was the waterpump..it busted...check all belts...and sprockets,pulleys...
Your belts are too loose or you need to replace them. Check the tension and then look to see what condition the belts are in. You have two belts, one drives the P.S. unit and the other drives A.C., Alternator.
If your belts aren't loose check the mounting bolts for the alternator and the power steering unit. I had that sqealing problem with my car too except it happen only when I turn. It turned out to be that my P.S. unit became loose.

Didn't you just buy this car...? Since it's a 94, I would reccomend just doing the timing belt, water pump, and drive belts service reccomended at the 90,000 mile interval... I'm sure this will solve your problem, and keep your motor running a tad longer as well...

The fact that you're having trouble starting in addition to having squealing belts would indicate to me that you've got a pulley starting to seize up. Your power steering pulley is the most likely culprit for this. Pull all your belts off, and make sure that you can turn over the pulleys by hand.
pully starting to seize? How expensive would I expect this to be?
All belts are brand new 3 weeks ago. Not sure about the timing belt though.

OMG just got off the phone with the guy. He says, "The alternator belt needs to be replaced. I said, "That is a brand new belt, JUST replaced it." Then he comes back with "Well maybe it is loose."
WTF so you were just gonna charge me for a belt that just needed to be tightented.
Well bottom line is we still dont know if the belt is loose and if that is even the problem and he will call back tommorrow.
The car turns over, so on times when the car doesn't start, I CANNOT blame it on the alternator because the engine is obviously getting power. I guess after all this is over I will have to move to fuel filter, air filter, and spark plugs.

can you open the hood, reach in and see if the belt is loose? is it that hard?
nothing will bite, i promise.
as of not starting, check the ground cable comming off of the battery. remove it completely and re-attach it. or it could be your ignition switch.
