I only use Honda chain lube as it is safe for chains with o-rings. You may want to see if the gear oil will have any adverse affects.

I use "Chain Wax" as well, its great . . . It doesn't fling and get all over your bike like oil would or anything like that . . . but you gotta let it dry for like 5 minutes after you spray it . . .

Honda pro chain lube:

Does not require chain to be hot, not a wax so it does not discolor, (you can see how dirty the chain realy is) works pretty good.

Yep, that's what I use.....

Cleaning the chain = Kerosene & a clean rag.

It also flies off, it's to light. I wouldn't recommend that.

Cheers,

Does anyone actually clean their chain before using lube or wax? I've spoken to a few different parts guys and they told me they never clean it, they just wax it . I asked about using Kerosene for cleaning, they looked at me as if i was crazy. Has anyone tried using Belair, i think that' what it was called?

I clean it at the beginning of the year with Simple Green and then lube it once a month during the riding season or immediately after riding in the rain.

Roy
