Im more interested in stuff like Pulleys/Dampeners, etc. mechanical parts.
Are the rules strict on that or even enforce it?

SFI assigns the rating to safety products, at least for the belts and fire suits. And yes, those items are strictly enforced with the major sanctioning bodies.

I understand the safety stuff like belts, helmets and suits. but what about parts on the engine.

the parts on the engine have nothing to do with SFI.
as for competitive parts, they are mainly enforced by your competitors making sure youre not cheating and some mandatory tear downs at runoffs depending on the event and region.

Whats the meaning of SFI approved Flywheels, harmonic dampeners and scatter shields? is it just like a rating so it looks good for the product?

Do you mean SEMA? There are certain manufacturing standards but it wouldn't be SFI...

Thats right. In drag racing the flywheel/scattershield are safety concerns. In the 60's they would come apart and cut off the drivers legs, as well as kill the spectators. True stuff. Still, wrong forum.
Turns out SFI covers a whole lot more material than I ever thought. Aside from the driver safety equipment, it tends to focus a lot on drag racing, boats, cars, and tractor pulling. Originally founded by SEMA.

Or SFI in this thread stands for Six Figure Income. Us low budget racers certainly do not approve of those parts being installed.

I think he knows what forum he is in, exospeed is a 2004 echc contingency sponsor.

Grandpa says-there are standards that SEMA set down in the '60s as noted. SFI has been doing the testing for some time. NHRA and IHRA have adopted things like scattershields (Lakewood's for example) and blower covers because of the history of failure. At one time SCCA mandated that we use a scattershield on RWD race cars. Eventually the ballistic nylon type were approved for non-American cars. The TransAm type use the hydroformed Lakewood type. So YES there is crossover between sanctioning bodies on safety equipment and related parts for cars including fuel cells. All of it based in part on accident history.
As to the internal components of a RR engine-SFI has little to do with our form of racing in this regard. SCCA and NASA have their rules regarding these components. They are not tied to a safety issue as such. Are the rules enforced strictly? Personal experience says that they can be and will be if a protest is entered. Build by the book and all is good.

The only reason I asked about SFI approved engine parts such as the pulley/dampener is because the company we are working with has recently received the SFI approval on that part and is being used by some Honda-Challenge racers at this time. I was just concerned if the SFI was a requirement in certain classes. I believe the car using some of the Evolution Industries parts was an ITR that was sponsored by PRO-DRIVE. i forget the TEAM name.
and no i wasnt referring to SEMA. I am familiar with the SFI rules on the Drag racing circuit but was just curious if there were some SFI ruling in the RR scene.

Hmm, learn something new every day. I had no idea SFI covered stuff beyond personal safety gear.
Anyways, to answer the question, there may be a rare SFI requirement in Pro racing, but none that I am aware of in club racing (for engine bits, safety gear must be SFI).
