OK, i just bought a used 98 Teg Gs, with about 40K miles, for $9500, it was a good price but the previous owner was a nimrod, besides the car being in good shape looking wise (apparently all he can do is detail and he kept it garaged). I just started doing some basic maintanence.
I changed the oil, it looked like poop , then i changed the tranny fluid, that was no good, i then proceded to flush the radiator, change the fuel filter, air filter, I'm going to give it a tune up eventhough the clicking is barely noticeable, I just want to see what it looks like inside. The cool thing is he gave me a AEM CAI and it has a comptech exhaust.
What other maintenance would you suggest?
Well the CEL came on last night, im going to do the paper clip thing but from what i read it sounds like the catalatyic converter.

What should i do? Should i get a high flow cat or the oem cat? I plan on getting a turbo but what about passing smog with a turbo, can you do it? If so then high flow all the way.

there are a few vegas members, i'm not too far away. about a dozen utah members. sounds like my turbodiesel mercedes when i got it. but it runs as smoothly as a diesel can. sounds like you got a good car, just the previous owner didn't know too much about care. and plus, the person only put about 7k miles a year. thats nothing. but, with the heat, quick around town trips aren't good for a motor because it doesn't get much cool coolant pumping through it.

 

that sounds like good enough maintnence for now. check everything again in about a month. so u live in vegas huh. i moved here from Los angeles and all i see in vegas is nothing but rice. there are some of the ugliest cars out here and everyone thinks there fast too. i think theres a couple vegas HT members that have some sweet cars though. i had a 95 integra with a jdm conversion on it. with carbon fiber hood too. then it got jacked. be carefull with ur teg around vegas theres alot of theives. before my teg got jacked it was broken into twice. anyways good luck with ur teg

 

Be careful with your car and were you park, alot of theives in vegas.

First Check that CEL and take care of that.. then change the plugs, wires, and do a valve adjustment.

 

yup vegas has a lot of thieves...**** thieves man.... i got 2 cars stolen here....

 

check the plugs and do a compression test.

Vegas has a REALLY bad image, when it comes to stolen cars.

 

OMG, you guys had to talk about getting my car stolen, well last saturady it got stolen up at sunset station casino. IM GUNNA KILL THE PUNK WHO DID THIS, they found it up in north las vegas, all they did was joy ride it and rip up all my panels just looking for anything, steal all my cd's, jacket, f...ing electric razor, and my system. I still don't know if anythings wrong with the engine, the auto body shop is gunna let me know. Hommie left a set of keys and a screw driver in my car, im gunna do my own forensic thing and get him...hahaha, i wish.

Well i finally got my car back, they didn't do enougth damage to total it, but i want to turbo it now. Is anybody in vegas that could help me?
