Yes and no.
1992-1995 is a D16Z6 125hp SOHC VTEC engine.
1996-2000 is a D16Y8 127hp SOHC VTEC engine.
The 1996-2000 D16Y8 has a better intake manifold among other small changes, but they also have different combustion chamber sizes that creates swirl for better emissions.
Both run similiarly.
The advantages to owning a D16Y8 IMO are the lower mileage and the slightly better tranny with steel shift forks as opposed to brittle aluminum ones in the 1992-1995 trannies.
If conveted to OBD1 I think the D16Y8 would put down a little more power than the D16Z6. Also if left OBD2 the Y8 will be much more likely to throw check engine lights that the OBD1 would never throw.
