Steering problems, gap in the middle.
I know this may be a little out of place, seeing as how this is HONDA-tech and not CHRYSLER-tech, but I figured if anyone would know, it would be the people over here at h-t.com, and this is more of a general car question than just a "my car" question . OK, so my poor little worn out LeBaron has a steering problem. I haven't been able to find anything online about it but there's some sort of gap in the middle of the steering. So, in order to make a minor adjustment you have to turn the wheel a whole half a turn or more to get the wheels to move. Does anybody know what causes this and how it can be fixed. I don't trust the mechanic that looked at it in the first place so he may be bull-shitting me in order to get more money. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!
Do you have power steering? If so, try changing the fluid.
My '96 Crysler Concord was doing the same thing until I changed the fluid. Now it's better.

fluids fine, doesn't matter now cause the shop deemed it un-roadworthy. rack and pinion are f'ed beyond belief so instead of repairing i'm handing it over to the insurance company
