even from b series to d series? the filter they gave me looks way skinnier than the one on the block now. i was scared to take it off and try and fit it because my car would have been stuck at the garage where i do all my work. i lined it up on top of the one currently on the motor and it looked about a 1/8 inch on both sides too narrow...i felt it was a big difference.

I actually have one sitting right here in front of me still in the box. It's a Fram. PH3593A.

::Edit::
Ooops, didn't see that you wanted the honda #.
I say go with the Fram instead though. Get the one with the grip end on it. Makes oil changes VERY easy.

Don't waste the $5 on the US FRAM filters, they suck.

Try a Purolator Pure One or Mobil1.

I have a 97 Teg, 97 Civic, 88 CRX with a B16 and they all use the same oil filter so I would assume they are all the same for D and B series motors...

do a search... there is nothing special about honda filters, especially the new smaller fram-built ones.

well the only thing special about oem filters is the anti flowback valve. regular frams DO NOT have it. however, fram tough guard and better filters do. i either use mobil1 or fram tough/double guard filters. that black coating on the end really does make it easy to take the filter off. i love how i can reach behind my intake manifold from the engine compartment and take the filter off

part number 15400-PCX-004 will get you the made in japan oem oil filter.

you got a smaller filter because they discontinued the large size oem filter in favor of the smaller newest civic and rsx oil filter. btw, the part number i listed is for a S2000 oil filter and its the same size as the discontinued large oem filters.

Isn't the larger filter, now that it is S2000 only, $15?

http://www.hparts.com sells 15400-PCX-004 for $5.89 each.

im not sure which oil filter is better but personally i like to use the larger filter made by honda as suppose to the smaller newer filter. they discontinued all the large size filters so that part number provided will get you the large size filter.

Do the 1988 mitsubishi montero oil filters fit Civics like they do Accord/Ludes? Or is the oil sender too close to the filter for it to fit? I havn't tried yet as I just got my civic Obviously you pick the brand, its just normally for a Montero.

I always used Mobil 1 until I saw the price, still get them for the S2k but the Civic just uses Fram Toughguard and get twice as many oil changes. Honda one isn't a bad idea though, right inbetween crappy and overkill =p

One filter fits all Honda's from 84 and up, except the Hybrid, Insight and S2000. That part number is 154-PLM-A02.
