Hi fellas.

I have a friend who has a 1999 ex and it has problems.

Started with him wrecking his car.
He gets it back, and at around ~4000-4500 rpm, the car bogs. Like vtec wasn't engaging.
It got progressively worse and started to missfire in the upper rev range.
Checked trouble codes. Got knock sensor, crank fluctuation sensor, vtec oil pressure, and random misfire on all cylinders.
Figured out the knock sensor problem. It was broken off of the block. But the car still ran.

Well, then the car started missfiring like hell. As if a valve or six gimped out on him.
Now the car will not run or even start at all. He has checked all the ignition components (besides a whole new distrtibutor), it's getting spark.
Checked fuel, it's good.
Haven't done a compression test yet, though.

Any of you have any insight? Could the CKF sensor keep the car from starting?

I would try compression first also take a quick look to see if the timing is all jacked up

 

Check the timing, check the condition of the spark plugs, and definitely do a compression test..

 

Thank's guys. I have a bad feeling he's got valve problems, or possibly ring probs. but we'll see.
