Default PLEASE HELP!!!

hi people... i really need some adivce for my 90 civic lx 4door... i would like to know what is the best engine i could fit in there ( please keep in mind that its an auto ) i know it sucks that its an auto but u would like to shut up all the people that always have said "why dont you get newer car?" and i know that alot of u people out there have heard that phrase... but ive had my car 4 almost 2 yrs now and it has been real faithfull but not perfect... everytime i accelerate it kind of hesitates and for like a mili second and then it goes... plus the acceleration is real bad until it hits about 3000 rpm and then it flys...and on the freeway at speeds over 70mph it really hesitates on going faster, and hills REALLY slow it down and it also burns oil like crazy(at high rpms... so id rather just get a new engine ( i'm also due for a smog check and im in s.f. cali so i know it wont pass) i would really appreciate all of ure advice on what i could get for my car.... from the inside, outside and under the hood (especially) since everywhere i look for stuff for my car no one really seams to know crap... i really appreciate any advice ya'll could give me... but i really need help in the engine area and maybe some advice on where i could gat a body kit 2
thankz for your time

i know my car proabably isnt worth the time since its an auto but its my baby (my first car) so i want it to look good, run better than some newer cars out there... and shut the f#$king mouths of the people talking crap about it... i know this is a dumb question but would a b18 fit in there?

thankz for your time

firstly, the search button is your friend. you will probably find alot of information on swaps in general and how you can apply that knowledge to make your civic lx 4door a fun little ride.
secondly, its all in how much you want to spend. want to go cheap go with a zc or if you have a little more go with a b16 if you have more money than you know what to do with then go with a higher end b series.
also, you can make your auto standard, might want to do some research on it. i think there was a how-to on hybrid garage (i think thats what it is called)
the last thing is that you can make anything fit, but that all goes back onto how much money you have to spend.
good luck

thank 4 the advice... im willing to spend about $2000-$3000 depending on whats best for the engine bay( not includig the interior or exterior) not that i have alot of money but im willing to spend no more than $10,000 on fixing my baby and make it a rare gem on the streets since i dont see many 90 4door lx's out there... i have also been seriously thing about making my auto a stick but since im 6'2 i think i would have a rather hard time shifting since i barely fit in there... and id rather keep it the way it is and make it a really fast auto... any advice out there on after market parts? (intake, exhaust, turbos maybe?)

funny, im 6'3 and 200 lbs, but i my manual crx. and aftermarket parts depend on whether you want to go FI or NA. decide which engine you are going to get which may be a deciding factor on if you want to go FI OR NA or visa versa in which either you want to go FI or NA will decide which engine you want and can afford. i hope that made a little sense.

If you want to spend 2g's, get a B16A1 from http://www.hmotorsonline.com You want the package that's 1499, then get the HAsport mounts, linkage, and the rest of your parts (oil gaskets etc) should come out to a tad over $2400. Plus nobody will make fun of you anymore.

its all in what u wanna do, u said u r willing to spend no more than 10G's, thats a lot of moeny, u can make that car something

NA-Naturally Asporaed (All Motor)
FI-Forced Induction (turbo, supercharger)

I just wanted to clear that up for ya, FI is good if you r really into racing and what not and you really wanna pull of some good times. But from what it sounds like u don't want your car to be the fastest thing around but u want to be able to pull on some ppl at the same time. I think you would be very satisfied with a ZC swap because they are very cheap $$$ and they are also a blast to drive. Are you planning on being more involved in the car show scene or race scene? If show scene then a zc is what u want. But if your planning on racing and doing autp x and other various things i woulld reccommend a b16a, LS, or maybe a GSR depending on how much $$ and work u wanna spend on the car. Now remember the whole FI thing? Yea, that sounds really good but **** can get real complicated when u start adding turbos to engines that normally rn't turbo'd. Also, i take it that this is your only car?? FI will take the reliabiltity away

Again, i would recommend checking out some things and doing a bit more research to find out what engine and upgrades will fit your lifestyle
