Default Help Quick... Slotted rotor direction

ok i just got brembos slotted&drilled. if i'm standing looking at the wheel
should the slots go / / or should the go \\

Aren't they labeled anywhere on the rotor? L for left and R for right?

sometimes tehy come labeled, but i have seen them go both directions. Most people say they should go //. I have tryed both ways and i saw no difference whatsoever.

Actually, it doesn't really matter other than for asthetics. The pad will still get swept, its just a matter whether the inner or outer leading edge will get swept first. What does matter (if this is a vented front rotor with curved vanes) is which way the internal vanes are aiming.

Some manufacturers slot the rotors in the same direction of the vanes. But some slot them opposite to the vanes so that throws things off.

You want the curved vanes rotating so they throw air outwards from the center of the wheel, rather than scooping inwards.

Baer is an example of slots opposite vs vane direction:


Might be a little difficult, but you'll notice from this shot that the internal vanes are aimed the way I mentioned above (this would actually be the view from the driver side front):


If the vanes are straight (just like stock), then you can orient the slots so they throw the dust outwards with rotation. Opposite to the 1st pic above. But I wouldn't loose any sleep over it.
