Need help registering my JDM ITR
As the topic says, I have been trying for the past 3 1/2 months to register my JDM 4 dr. ITR in the state of Georgia through a possible loophole (don't want to mess with DOT and EPA if I can avoid it (yeah I know it's the legal way)). Was just wondering if anyone had any ideas and/or suggestions or if any of you know someone who has registered one before some way other than this. I know there was a guy on here from FL that said his friend was able to "sneak" one by. Otherwise I will have to sell it.
Thanks guys !

Yeah Brett, I've been here for years lol. I started the ITRCA-SE a few years back, but it died off cause I never had time to handle it and plus I sold my yellow R. I still own the domain though. Nice to see you found the best board for asking questions about your R and just bullshitting around
. Anyway about the loophole, I haven't found it yet, but as I said there's a guy in FL that registered his DC2 without DOT clearance. And I don't think that race cars from Japan are street legal. Elaborate on your point because I don't understand how throwing a rollcage in would help my situation.

I think if I decide to sell it, I will probably ask $16K. Brett has seen the car in person b/c he was interested in buying it and can vouch for me. Here are a few pics.

i got my sir-g reg by appling for a rebuild title.
i got the seller to write up reciepts for all the major parts for the car.
i was able to get a state issued vin by telling them that i imported the chassis and didnt have a us vin. state police came and got all the serial numbers to see if anything was stolen then wrote a letter to the dmv. which allowed me to get the ky vin.
after i got that i was just as i was going to the rebuild process.
or do whats called a vin swap (real illegal)

buy a REALLY cheap 4dr LS
Reg it
Remove all VINs etc..
Place LS VINs on JDM ITR
Burn LS, dispose of so no one finds it
Drive your "legal" JDM ITR around
If any questions every came up, you did A TON of body work on the car. All by yourself.

Yeah thats Wayne with the CTR and it's real. He lives here in Macon. He had a firewall out of a Civic SI put in and thats how he got it registered with a U.S. vin. I prefer to not steal a vin off another car, so I like the idea that db8sirg had.

right.. because drag racing makes the world go round, and is the be all end all..
pretty cool that merely swapping the firewall got it to pass DOT.. I wonder how he got it cleared and VIN'd..

It's not really STEALING if you own the other car, your just reusing parts
Btw, are you on the spoon rim payment plan? Why the mis-matched wheel

Does the 4-door Type R have different seats? Those look more like LS seats or something. On another note, something I found out (which may be applicable to only one state and no, I don't know what state if that's the case) is that to register a vehicle for race-use only, you have to provide dates of competitions, show a logbook that the car was raced, etc., all this extra BS that makes it not so...acceptable. HPDEs don't really count as competitions, so I wonder if they'd qualify or not.
I didn't mean swapping firewalls got a DOT clearance. I meant it was regged as a Civic Si, he just better hope he doesn't get in a wreck.
What do you mean different seats? They are black Recaros with red stiching, similar to the USDM ITR seats.
Mismatched wheel ? I'm confused I think .....
