vtec not working, getting code 54
my vtec hasnt been working for about 3 weeks and i checked the codes today and got a code 54. could this be the reason that my vtec is not working, or is this just something else?
what happens when i have a busted CFK sensor?
what happens when i have a busted CFK sensor?
CKF = Crank Fluctuation Sensor .. its on the oil pump housing of the OBDII Hondas. I've NEVER seen one go bad before in all my years of dicking with these cars, but theres always that first time
1.) replace the ckf sensor
2.) check for a short in the wiring of the ckf sensor
3.) swap with a working ecu (rarely the ecu, but it happens)
do all 3 and viola! you have vtec

somebody told me that a cfk sensor has nothing to do with vtec not working, but i've heard the opposite too, that the cfk sensor will cause vtec not to engage in an obd2 civic
CFK sensor doesn't affect vtec. We have a 97 integ with an itr bottom end and a 96 gsr head with a 99 ecu (long story don't ask) with the cel on. Turns out that the cfk sensor wire is cut, but the car run beautifully, vtec and all. So I would double check the car and wiring if I were you. Check for oil pressure, things like that.
