Evaporative Emissions Controls (EVAP)
any affects performance or idle wise? I have standalone so throwing codes isnt a problem. Im just trying to clean my engine bay up while the motors out, so if its not needed then i dont want it in there.
obd1 i dont think it will throw any codes... but with obd2 it throws a code and puts the ecu into limp mode sometimes (from my expereiece) but this is only when the car is cold... once the car warms up... and u reset the ecu... everything is all well
what year+model are we talking here? IF it is OBD2- it also depends if it has the Enhanced evap system or not.It will be hard to get around obd2 with this- the ecu looks for a drop in MAP when the canister is purged. This will throw a P1457 or p1456 code- depending on the system. I don't know how to bypass this in a reasonable fashion.
Evap codes do not put the car in limp mode. The only reason the light does not come back on when you reset it with a warm engine is because the enabling criteria for an evap drive cycle include a cold startup- This is to monitor fuel tank pressure. Evap codes are 2 trip codes. The test has to fail two consecutive times to illuminate the MIL. On obd1- I don't see any provision for monitoring the evap system.
