The only thing i can tell you is to pretend the valvetrain is from the 86-89 Integra. Thats the 1.6L non vtec D16A1. It's the closest US motor to the zc. The biggest differences are mounting holes and cams in the head and intake manifold. The pistons are also higher compression.

88-89 integra valvetrian is really not the same, When you don't know something shut up .

To upgrade the valvetrain of a ZC, the best thing is to machine the spring seat to accept B serie non vtec springs. DH racing sell ZC head with B serie non vtec valvetrain http://www.dh-racing.com

From what I heard unless you are going real High lift or have egal rods and doing serious RPM's Both Exospeed and EF-1 has told me stock springs and retainers are good for anything less than 8,000 rpm and with streetible cams.

Hey, come on, that's a little uncalled for. We redid a head on a zc a couple years ago using D16A1 valvetrain and had no problems at all. There is no need to be rude. Upgrading to a b series valve spring sound like a great idea though.

They are basicly the same thing. All a DOHC ZC is, is a twin cam D series motor thats all. Anyway the term "ZC" is just a generic name honda uses on it motors , There's a D16zc , D16z , Plain ZC , there's even a B16zc.The head is the only difference in what makes it different from other D series motors. If you want just buy the GUDE head package I hear it's nice set-up for the ZC but it's for N/A ONLY if you use the gude head you can not turbo, S/C , or use nitrous on that head. Dude just PM me if you need some ZC help I've been messing with ZC's for awhile now and don't flame people for asking question others may find stupid.

Also find Abaz on this site or goto http://www.homemadeturbo.com he's on there too. He built a very sweet fully built for boost DOHC ZC. Ask him where he got his parts from.

Can you show me these motors? There are 3 versions of the ZC that I am aware of: SOHC non VTEC, SOHC VTEC, DOHC non VTEC. And of course, there are different gen's of each. B16ZC?
