Default When should i change my oil wieght

Here in Texas we don't get to cold. What should I do. Any noticable difference.

I'm going to go with Mobil 1 15w40 today, i was planning on running all 15w40... Not too cold in Washington, just sick of burning oil every now and then.

Is it really necessary to run 15W40? The whole point of running thicker oil is to provide more buffer when the oil thins out at high temperature. So if you run an oil cooler, then I would just use 10W30.

10w30...thinking of switching to 5w30 for the winter, or just let it warm up longer
