There is an arrow with up written on each cam pulley when viewed from the driver's side. TDC of number 1 cylinder will be both these arrows pointing up. Number 1 cylinder at TDC at the crank, line up the line on the crank pulley with the triangle on the oil pump. The keyway on the crank will be very close to straight up. Use a strap wrench to turn, take out the sprak plugs to make it easier to turn the crank.

First, move the crank away from TDC so NONE of the pistons are up at the top. Now you can spin the cams without hitting valves & pistons. After you line up the cams, then put the crank at TDC.

thanks i was just a little confused

i was worried to turn the crank with out turning the cams...
its all good now...on to the crank pully

how will i know if the number 1 is a tdc on the compression ....or exhaust.....


if the cams are pointed up does that indicate tdc on exhaust

cams on their mark indicates TDC #1 on the compression stroke

is there a difference between #1at tdc on compression vs. exhaust....when setting the crank...concerning the bottom end...

At the bottom end there's no difference. The cams are the only things that make the difference between TDc compression vs. TDC exhaust.
