98 ITR #406 is back on the road again!
I finally got 98 #406 back on the road. Story to follow:
About 3 years ago, I was working at an Acura dealership, when the rings in my stock block decided to go bad. I had a tech there put in some Spoon Sports JDM ITR pistons and rebuild my bottom end. The tech thought he could save some money and decided to reuse the rod bolts. Unfortunatly, this build up was going on right about the time of ITR Expo 1, so I didn't get to bring her to the original Expo.
About 13 months ago, (Sept. 17th 2002 to be exact) I spun a rod bearing. It looked to be a result the used rod bolts backing out allowing room for the bearings to spin on top of eachother.
The crank was damaged in the process.
Shortly thereafter, I contacted a very well known dealer for Spoon Sports products and decided to order the Spoon B18C Shortblock. After 8 months of hearing from this shop "The block is on it's way from Japan, it should be here anyday", I said screw it and decided to rebuild the block, big boy style. For the last 5 moths, I have been researching and getting parts ready for my build. Last week, I finally got her done. This is the current mod list:

I just thought I would share my story with you fellow ITR owners. Hope to see you all at ITR Expo 4!!
I want to give thanks to everyone at Modern Garage (Christian, Tyler, Cortney and Eric), Larry and the Endyn Crew for the top notch products and the great head work, and to my wife, for whom none of this would have been possible without the help and support from her.
CLIFFSNOTES: 13 months ago, spun a rod bearing. Waited 8 months for a Spoon Shortblock that was promised to come, but never did. Rebuilt the B18C5 and finally got it on the road again last week

Still trying to decide on which one I am going to go with. Either AEM EMS or Hondata. I work at a shop with a Mustang AWD Dyno, so dyno time will not be an issue. I am still weighing out my options. Suggestions?

Why not an Apex'i PowerFC w/ datalogger? Then you can tune it on the fly for any type of driving that you do. With Hondata you're stuck with a program, unless you burn another chip, right?

I never said that I WASN'T going to get suspension or saftey equipment.
Each to their own.
