need to cut an inch of threading off short shifter, what do use ??
i was thinking a simple hacksaw
but i just wanted to see if you guys had other ideas

yea you could use a simple hacksaw... then re thread it to even out the tip.. and also.. why do u need to cut it?

He wants to make it into a short shifter. You can do it, but dont cut it too short or else it'll just screw everything up.

actaully i used to ahve a razzo shifter and i just recently bought a SiR (or usdm Si) shift **** and now theres about an inch of thread showing from the bottom of the shift ****
so instead of hiding it i wanted to cut that extra inch off

Use a rock. That's how the cave men did it.
I would use a wood chipper if I had one, but I don't so I would have to use a hack saw. After cutting the thread off, take a good metal file or a grinder and clean it up. You should also take the file and chamfer the top so you have some lead in for making it easy to screw the shift **** back on.

i used a dremmel to but half the threading off
took about 15 mins tho ....... damn those B&M shifters are solid
but i wish i read krustin's post about the nut, that would have bene a great idea
i just eyeballed the cut with a dremmel then uses the grinder to smooth things over
