There is a big difference with the jimfab. the suspension just feels alot tighter. Also my bushings were shot on the stock x member and the car just felt crappy. I also had a clunking noise when I would hit a bump and once I put on the jimfab the noises went away and the car just launched harder and drove alot smoother. The tanabe is one of the best exhaust I have heard. Its nice and deep no raspy metal sound. It is quiet at idle but nice and deep when you punch it.

yes the header it welded to the cat and the exhaust. I couldn't find any 2.5" flanges so I just had the exhaust shop weld it on there. I wasn't about to drive around open headers until I got a flange. Just the drive to the exhaust shop was loud. I got such a headache from that.

I really don't see any problems with having the cat welded to the headers and exhaust. Its just one big piece now. The only prob I see is if I wanted to sell the header or exhaust which I don't see happening anytime soon so its no biggy to me. At the time that was the only solution available and it works for me. Thanks for the compliments.

yea the header welded directly to the exhaust is not good. I had that same setup on my old motor the problem with it is when you drive your motor flexes back and forth putting stress on that weld. Eventually it will crack right there where the springs are supose to be and you will have to reweld it about every 6 months. It really sucks. other than that car looks good.

Let's try to keep this thread technical, otherwise it will have to be moved to the appearance forum. The only reason I haven't moved it yet is because it has some technical information in it.

I actually never thought about that. Thats a good point. I have a question though did you have a B16 with solid polyurethane mounts. Do you think this might keep the motor from moving to much?

No I had that setup on my old D16A6. It might not be that bad with yours since you have the poly motor mounts. I would still suggest that you get it fixed but I am sure it will be fine for a while.

I agree with the posts above - definitely try and stay away from welded 1-piece exhaust systems (ie header welded to cat, etc). You could buy a flex-pipe, and have a muffler shop weld that inbetween the cat & header, then you'd be safe.

What kind of springs are you using?

Nice work on the project!

Thanks for the compliments. Ill see how the exhaust holds up, if and when it breaks Ill fix it but for now it works. The springs are neuspeed sports on tokico blues 2" drop in front and 1.8" in rear. I also got an SPC (I think) camber kit. Next on the list is to clean the engine bay and replace the leaking cam seal. I am also going to install my energy suspension master kit and get some suspension teq sway bars. There are a bunch of other things that need to be done i.e. Body work and paint but for now the car is running smooth and fast and I am happy with what I have done so far.
