ok guys my distributor went out and i got a used one, and we put it on , and now my car is firing and igniting like it should,
i know that my distributor is good compared to my old one.
i have pulled the spark plug wire out put it on top of the motor , and you can see it spark, i thought it could have been my fuel pump but i took out my filter and cranked it and fuel shot out , so my pump is pumping , but now i dont what to do i would love to have someone lend a helping hand if they have any ideas.
thanks
Bret
I know this may sound pretty vague and almost a bit silly, but if it was working fine before your distributor went bad and now with the new distributor it doesnt, I'd say your problem lies right there. Again this may be stating the obvious but I'd start looking into this "new" distributor and work from there.
ok dude, tale open up the distributer up, and make sure the rotor has the screw in it holding it to the distributer shaft, under the distributer cap, because the plugs will still spark, but the rotor could be ferrly spinning, check that and get back with me!!!!!!

Ditto that, I got stumped on a customers car with that nasty distributor trick.
If you ever get an afteramarket new OEM style distributor they have a nasty tendency to install the wrong sensors to the wrong color of wire. Try and test both distributors on a known running car unless you have some time, a helm manual and a multimeter.
