Default type R valve springs?

will valve springs from a Type R work in my b18A? because i have an ecu that has been reprogrammed to rev up past 8k...but i'm afraid to install it because i mite abuse the the higher rev, so i was wondering what i should do!

no the ITR valve springs will not work in a non-VTEC b18A. there diffrent sizes.

buy crower dual valve springs. there good for over 8k rpm.

a new valvetrain springs and retainers... i dont think the stock pistons and rods will be able to handle those kinds of revs. so i assume you will need to fortify the block with high rev capable pistons and rods.

I believe pistons and rods will be OK. He's only revving to 8k, not 10k! Several GSR's rev to 9500 rpm after Toda B's and springs/retainers with no problems. The LS block is stronger then the GSR.

The LS might be able to handle more boost, but I highly doubt that it will be able to rev as high or higher than the b18c1.

VTEC blocks are much more suited to high revving than the LS blocks etc. Piston configuration (oil squirters), rod ratio, etc.

The LS blocks are "stronger" due to the thicker cylinder walls, but for an all-motor setup (the only feasable application for revving past 8K) the valvetrain efficiency, weight, and dynamics (smoothness) are requirements for reliability.

BTW no engine revs to 9500 without the Toda v-train setup or the appropriate company of the cams.

Don't use USDM ITRs at 9000rpm either. Some do and get away with it, but there is a very good chance of valve float. JDM ITR v-springs are slightly stronger and not much more expensive.

Well first you wanna ask yourself why do you want to rev higher? Are you running some hot cams? If not then its pretty pointless. Crower makes good valve springs and retainers for the b18a/b. Pretty cheap for about $180 the set.
