How far can you go for $30K
Before I start asking this is a semi hypothetical question so if you don't want to feel like you're wasting time by answering my questions and me not actually haveing an S2K yet, stop reading now.
I definatly want one after I finish paying off my si but I'm wondering how far you can take the cars performance for less than $30K including the cost of the car ( a used '00 or '01 has to be black or white with red interior). By the time I'll be shopping for one the used '00 and '01 should be around $18 to $20 for a good example which leaves a good amount for mods. The first items on my list would be a set of 17" wheels ( no bling ), sticky rubber, mild brake upgrade ( slotted rotors and stainless lines ) and a tein suspension. I figure that should eat up around $6,000 which should leave plenty of cash for good I/h/E combo ( DC sports or comptech {ok maybe not ALL comptech stuff
}). But where does that leave me for a Vortech kit? And do I really need it after the other mods? Fantisize away about ideas or tell me to stop dreaming and go to hell.

not ragging on you at all, but here's the scoop:
1) buy the car
2) learn to drive it at the local autocross events
3) learn to drive it at the DE events at a road course
4) buy extra set of wheels, tires (r-compounds if that) and hotter brake pads
5) go back to the track
6) go back to the track
7) go back to the track
8) buy more tires and more brake pads
9) go back to the track
10) go back to the track
Seriously!
if you want a car for strictly modding just to mod, this will suck you dry and this isn't the car for you. instead, get the car, learn what needs to be done to it, IF ANYTHING AT ALL, and then do as you please. just please.. don't mod to mod. it's such a waste when most people don't know how to drive the damned thing.

Very good point, it took me over two years to get my si to the state it's in now so I think that I probably wouldn't go strait to modding the car without driving it awhile first. Thank you for pointing that out, I just realized how trust fund baby sounding my question was. So what you're saying is.... go to the track?

Listen to this guy. The S2000 doesn't really need the "bolt on" mods cause most of them just suck or net you next to nothing in power.
The car is an amazing piece of engineering and technology. If you have never driven RWD - the first time you go around the corner in the rain and hit the gas, you are probably going to wet your pants, and hopefully you won't crash...
The S is just a different animal from any Civic/Accord/Integra - even the most crazy modded ones.

Go test drive one before you make any plans for future modifications. My friend and I switched cars for a day and I realized that the S2k just wasn't the car for me. Interior was tiny as hell. Shifter was way too high for my taste. Road noise was just as loud as an ITR. But because it was so small, it felt like I was driving a go-kart or something.
At the end of the day, my friend wanted to trade cars forever! What can I say, B18c5 VTEC crossover is addictive.
I'm not bagging on the S2k at all. Just realized that it wasn't my type of car. I used to dream about one at a certain point. I even have a Berlina Black S2k slammed on Mugen MF8's as my background. Anyways, my point is that you should test drive one before making any decisions.

The best advice is to drive the car before you buy. If you like straightline perf, your in the wrong car. It will never measure up in the drag catagory to a civic 1/3-1/4 its price. Grab a nice turbo kit and bring the car into the perf catagory it should be in, then enjoy it.

There aren't a whole lot of places to go really fast around where I live and it's more important to me to have a car that has razor sharp reflexes and is more fun to take around 15MPH corners at 50mph. I have driven two other rwd cars both mustangs, one was an 88' GT and the other a 97' cobra and both were handfuls not just in the corners but on the straights as well. I have to fight the urge to mod my si any more and start banking the money for an S2K. Thanks for the responses, the other site I post on you have to wade through dozens of bullshit stupid responses to get any info at all.
