ITR sway bar noise again...
I've had the ITR bar installed on my GSR for over a year now...i did the install myself with my own spacers (machined at a shop), but ever since the install i had a clunking noise when i go over large bumps (not during regular cruising). I guess the noise comes when the rear suspension moves up a lot. Now that I think about it...the noise may come from my lowering springs (maybe i need the rubber hose to put over some of the coils)...
but anyways...i seearched online for this topic and found that most people have installed the bar upside down. I just went outside and checked mine against BSQ's picture and it's not upside down. when i ordered the mounting hardware from A&H, I did notice that they only sent me one pair of copper bushings...i know what you guys are thinking...copper? If you look at your sway bar...the ends have rubber bushings, but inside each rubber bushing are 2 copper (or some other metal) flanged bushings. the sway bar requires 2 pair it seems, so instead of ordering another pair, I found some unflanged metal bushings and used it. The fit was perfect, so i thought
anyways, after just checking the sway bar, i noticed a clean just to the right of my sway bar D-bracket/bushing. I guess the bar is moving to the side....the clean spot looks like it's about 2-3mm.
The noise is kind of annoying cuz all my passengers keep asking about it...can someone help?
do i need to order the correct flanged metal bushings? Is it normal that the sway bar moves side to side about 2-3mm? do i need the rubber hose to insulate my rear springs?
Thanks guys!

You only need 1 pair of the flanged bushings. I thought it use 2 pair too, but asked and was told only 1 pair was needed. The bar shouldn't be moving laterally, if it is, put a hose clamp on the outside of each d mount to stop it from moving. My Beaks kit hasn't allowed any shifting of the bar....
I only got one pair too, so I thought it was a mistake by A&H (since I saw my invoice said 2, but my original order was 4). I ended up using the old ones, since the instructions I followed said you could.
I had the same thing happen to me too, but that went away when I realized I had the bar installed upside down. Haven't heard it since. It had only happened to me like twice though on big driveways. I have BSQ kit too.

Some clamps on either side of the bar will keep it from shifting laterally. Look at my web page for details. The clamps came with my bar, but I'm sure you can rig something from Home Depot.
