Anyone know B18s and Crxs?
I am going to buy a cr-x very soon and drop a B18c in it. Has anyone swapped a B18 into a crx, please respond with any suggestions or advice.
I would like to know what kind of HP Id have with a basically stock cr-x B18 with exaust, intake and chip, I only have enough money to do that.
I also am going to buy a B18 tranny to go in it. Whats better, cable or hydro, and what is easyer to instal in a sec. gernaration cr-x.
I was full VW fan for the last few years, untill i hit V-tech. Any suggestions on what mods to do to the car? thanks.

A few friends have dropped B18s into their '88-'91 CRXs with good results. Didn't seem to be too hard a swap. One of them is running a B18B, putting out 142.5hp and 129 torque at the wheels.
You definitely want the cable transmission; there ARE hydro-to-cable kits now (HASport), but it's extra $ you don't have to spend.
I think the hardest part of the swap is pounding out the driver's-side chassis member to gain that extra little bit of clearance for the alternator.
Being a B18C, you might have some wiring to do. Not sure what OBD that motor is set up for.
And BTW, V-Tech is a cheap telephone; VTEC is what makes Honda motors giant-killers!

i dropped a b18c1 into my 89 sedan a little while ago..bolts in the same like all ef chassy (thats 88-91 Civics an CRX's for ya new folks)
anyway i would say go with the hydro tranny...that is of course if the swap you buy comes with it, cause you are easily going to spend another $300-$400 for a cable LS or GSR tranny or even b16...where you could simply retain the stock tranny and spend that money on the Hasport Cable-Hydro conversion kit...just my 2 cents.
but feel free to email me at dingusjt@yahoo.com if you have any questions!
i'm not going to bash you or anything...hell i remember when i first bought my civic i thought http://www.customcivics.com was a badass site and the first question i asked was whether i should get an intercooler or not?? of course i didn't know it would be cool if i had a turbo kit to go along with it
