I have a CRX with a JDM b16 and im throwing code 4 (crank position sensor) It is an problem that comes and goes so i asume that the sensor is going out. What car do i need to go buy the sensor or distributor for (Acura 89-93 ?????) any advise with help thanx..
Code 4 - Crank Angle Sensor
Top sensor in the dist. and is used for fuel control and misfire detection.
If the dist. base bearing starts failing, it will start heating the sensor(s) up, destroying the magnetism causing a code(s). It will lose 10% of it's strenght, each time it is heated up, to a 170 degrees plus.
In most cases, replacing the distributor is the only alternative. Especially if the bearing has failed.
Honda does don't stock the bearing itself, but other after-market compaines are said to have one.
If you have problems starting the engine, or drivability after the install check your cam aligment. The seizing bearing might have caused it to jump a tooth/notch or two. From the extra drag due to the bearing failing.

and the bad part about buying a used distributor, is the fact that the bearing could be going out in that one too...
i learned that the hard way.

you can search online (i can't think of a website offhand) that sells new jdm b16 dizzy's, but that would be pretty expensive.
i *think* you can rip the guts out of an ls dizzy, somehow, and swap it into your b16 dizzy...i don't know what that would entail exactly, but i think i remember reading that somewhere...

ok, then maybe your other ecu is bad...
it happened to me with my first pr3...after it went bad, car idled erratically and shut off while driving or just idling. got a new ecu (zdyne) and everything is great.
