i used some industrial strength degreaser i stole from work when i used to work at chick-fil-a a long time ago to clean the engine on my old car. it cleaned it good and all i did to keep it clean was just use a scrub brush and just car wash and water about once a month. make sure the engine is completely cool before you do it because the degreaser stuff dried on my engine before i could even reach for a scrub brush or hose and my car had been sitting for about two hours. i had to let my car cool overnight and redo it. simple green and a few brushes and rags works good too. just make sure you cover your distributor and air filter.

cover the distributor, alternator, fuse box and the battery. Then just use a hose to wash everything off.

Simple Green does wonders

on my em1 and cb7 i always use gunk degreeser and spray it on let it sit 10 mins and pressure wash it off...of course cover atleast your intake and distributor and just be careful also think bout alrams and if you have a alarm horn cover that cuz ti will short out...this is not the best way to do things but it gets it clean wit not a lot of time or money......if u want it done right have it hot tanked...it will sprakle

Ya umm, first of all i dont think you have an electric motor its actually called an engine, but you can buy a degreaser and spray that on there then spend a little bit of time wiping it down then use a house to spray it off but not a pressure washer

Castrol Super Clean. Works great, spray it on and hose off. You will be amazed how it cleans and how easy it is. If you are going to power wash it off, it will really work well. Don't let it sit too long before you hose it off.

motor, engine, motor, engine...

go ahead and start spliting hairs, oh, that's a four strokes, two cycle, internal combustion, single overhead cam,un-leaded gasoline, vtec, pressureized water cooled, multi-port electronic fuel injection, aluminum engine.

cover distributor, remove or cover air filter, spray engine degreaser over the entire engine, let it set for a bit and then hose it off. i always use a pressure wash at a car wash but if your worried about damaging something just use a regular hose.

When you're done washing (they've already covered that part), be sure to run the engine for a while, heck, go out for a drive. You want to get the engine hot and burn up any leftover/pooled water.

Simple Green will do it. but just to let you know... it will get dirty again... with a quickness but if you just want to get rid of some of the dirt like you said and not waste too much time... then just use old t-shirts, simple green, or just regular windex cleaner. thats what i used and it cleaned it pretty well.
