Is there anyway to have the exhaust run up the driver side, rather then down the passenger side with so many bends?
I have also been considering doing some sort of dual exhaust (ducks for cover!) One pipe, but two mufflers. Would you just have some sort of 'Y' pipe to separate them? And run one down drivers side and one down passengers side?
If you dont have anything nice to say then dont!!!
Btw... any pics taken below a lift would be great.

I'm confused. The exhause runs down the middle, until you get to the fuel tank. Turning toward the passenger side or the drivers side is still turning. If you want to minimize bends, run it straight down the middle. Or are you simply concerned with where the exhaust exits the car?

i just dont like the look of having the pipe go across the back to exit out the driver side.

i have it done on my little 90 hatchie
i took it to a muffler shop told them i wanted it to go out the drivers side, so we came up with the idea of rather it go right down the middle and turn right and go out the passanger side we would just have it turn left as it got to the fuel tank and ran it straight back...
stock:

hope that makes sense...

so that actually worked? i need some pics of the underside... i didnt think there was room to do what you said... but if there is ya, thats what i want
yep there is room...they just have to bend up the pipe to clear the lower control arm. i can try to get some pics..
id love to see the pics. ive been wondering how i want to do my exhaust and yours seems like a good set-up. get those pictures
i thought about that also but i think they ran it the way they did stock so it wouldnt be in any way of the fuel lines
the reason its like that is because the stock mufflers don't fit length wise.. they are to long.. so the put it to the side cuz it saved space.. you coudl try and find a smaller muffler to fit.. but the smaller muffler you put the more raspy and riceier the exhaust note gets.. if you unhappy about the way it looks paint the muffler and all the piping flat black.. it won't be as noticable. If you doing it because you think its "freer" flowing.. it won't gain you anything as far as HP.

what i want is to have a canister style muffler that comes out straight and not on an angle.
You know, after I got shocked by sticking a fork in the light socket, I stopped doing things just to see if it could be done. The exhaust is designed to go over the passenger side rear wheel, slant across the back of the car, and rest on the drivers side. That's where the hangers are, that's where the heat shields are designed for the piping to go. If you're not gaining anything from doing this, please, for the love of god, save yourself the trouble and just run the piping the way it's supposed to be run and don't just do it because you want to see if it can be done without igniting your gas tank from hot exhaust fumes. Strictly opinion here though.

Here's some pics of my dual output setup. I don't like chrome or anything flashy plus i don't like the sound of a fart can soooooo i used a flowmaster Camaro muffler, one input dual output. The muffler's a little thick so i'm gonna make a lip to extend the bumper slightly. It's got a nice rumble at idle, but it does get whiney as the RPM's go up. But i don't have my turbo on yet, that will quiet it down a bit. I get alot of compliments on it. That's about the only thing that doesn't look stock on my car.
