Possible Fuel Pump + Ignition Coil Problem
I have a 92 Accord LX (auto). The car has 140,000 miles on it. It has a lot of trouble starting. I can hear it cranking, but it just won't start until I have been trying for like five minutes. It is worse when cold outside. When the engine is cold, the tach flickers a lot and the car feels like it isn't combusting properly. It hesitates a lot if it hasn't warmed up for a good 5 min. Even if it has the tach flickers but engine sounds consistent in revving. But still, after it has warmed up, the engine hesitates when I push the gas even moderately unitl it has been driven a good mile or two. I have a feeling that the tach problem is related to the ignition coil and the engine hesitation is related to the fuel pump. Even After it has been driven for a while, past 3500 rpm the tach flickers and the engine hesitates after 4k-4500 rpm. Any input is highly vlaued.
Thanks

The coil shorting out could be the cause of the tach bounce. The coil in cap setup is known to have coils go bad that can also ruin the ignitor. The tach gets it's signal from the ignitor when the coil fires.
Best of luck I hope this helps you.
