Still Having Problems With Oil Pressure Sending Unit
I have an Autometer Oil Pressure Gauge and Sending Unit
well ive replaced the sender about 3 times now and it seems not to be it...today i replaced all the wires(ign, grd, snd) with new 18 gauge wire and new connections.....still no luck
even tried new ground....still no luck
this is really stumping me...what can be the problem???
i got a brand new gauge from autometer...free of charge and a new sending unit in there now
I have an SH so i mounted it with copper piping and on the end of it is the sending unit and all this is protruding out the side of the head(next to ignition coil and distributor)
when i start the car up the needle jumps from below 0 to right on the 0 mark(like before the problems) and it just stays there and doesnt read the pressure....
i even thought something was blocking the pressure, so i removed the copper piping but the pipe was clear of obstructions
i have had this setup for about almost a year and was working fine for 6 months.....anyone know all of a sudden it just doesnt want to work???
TIA

If I were in your situation, I would get out my multi-tester and check the wiring. Be sure that the sender is properly grounded and check to see if the resistance that the sender puts into the signal wire is changing based on changes in oil pressure.
yea this is my 4th sending unit and its brand new
the ground is going to a screw that goes into ground right under the dash near the hood popper
what should the voltage be when i do the test ? and what wires should i check....all of them???

check for continuance on the ground wire near the sender unit and at a grounding point on the frame that you're sure is getting a good ground.
If it is getting a good ground, then check the voltage that's going from the sending unit before you crank the car, and then crank it and read what it does.
