oh yeah no doubt about it. ls/vtec will put some good numbers. however, u need to build it right, otherwise, you'll be in a deep trouble. search a whole lot before you even think about putting ls/vtec.

whats the difference between ls motor and the gsr besides v-tec and heads, what makes ls supposedly so much better. might be a dumb question to some but i know nothing.

The B18b Block is very torquey. High Torque + High HP = Faster

I had an idea about putting the 1st gen B16 in my car since it is the easiest and cheapest one for my car. When I want more displacement I will just put in a B18C1 block with ITR pistons and call it a day.

I'm 'rocking the RSVTEC' as you put it. Just the same as Ls/Vtec but I think my RS has less sound-deadening material like the Type R does. I also don't have Cruise Control or a moonroof, which equals less weight.

gsr has higher compresion than ls. ls/vtech with otherwise stock internals is gonna be worse off than stock gsr

no

Not if you still run the same compression as the LS. I raced some guy w/ LSVTEC way before I put in my CTR pistons and walked the dog on his ***.

Unless you bump up the compression you aren't using VTEC for what it was meant to do.

ugh.. no.

Compression is not the only factor in how an engine performs. Yes the higher compression is better suited for the more aggressive vtec cam profile, but to assume that with out it a ls/vtec (not vtech ) is going to be worse is just goofy.

The B18B has more torque because of its rod stroke ratio. By having a shorter stroke, it has more displacement. The result is more low/mid range torque at the sacrifice of revability. The higher you rev with a shorter stroke the more sideloading you get.

Which is why it is very important to build a LS/Vtec properly if you plan to rev higher than the stock LS redline.

so much misinformation

Like I said above, my friends put down 166 with just i\h\e vafc and dyno tuning. He has stock internals which means lower compression than a stock gsr. Does he have a freak motor or what.

We compression tested it and it was 240-255 across

Along with LS/VTEC you also have to look at the transmission. A GSR tranny is closer geared than a LS tranny, so what will give the GSR the advantage in that realm.

If you're even going to bother with NA LSVTEC just go NA B20. You'll feel a lot more torque as the difference in displacement btwn a B20 vs B18C is obviously a lot larger than a 18B vs 18C.

Of course, you could always bore out the LS

I might go with a B20 and a B16a cable tranny with the LSD in my DA. I think my topspeed will be like 120-125 but, I don't need to go past that in a 1/4 anyway and it will get there pretty damn fast! Not to mention all that torque with those short gears and a LSD will haul *** off the line. No more waiting to get into your power curve.
