Just got fireball installed on the rex!
Well i just got came back from meineke, they installed my 5zigen fireball muffler, i had bought the axle back but i didnt want to cut out a piece in my wings west rs bodykit rear bumper so i just had them modify ht epiping so the exhaust exits on the drivers side.
Onto how it sounds, well its brand new and has a new pipe section so it isnt gonna sound the way its ment to right now. but so far the exhaust is very very deep ,it is very loud right now but i figure thats becuase its brand new, i can see it quieting down once theres some nice sut in there. I got out on a deep stretch of road and tested it out, the exhaust is really deep and agressive at low rps at idle its as quiet as a humming bird but as soon as you slamm the throttle this thing roars. I had heard people say that the exhaust really screams at certain rpms and this is 100% true. As soon as i hit 3000 rpms this thing really screamed out loud, for right now its a little too loud for my taste but im sure itll quiet down in a week or so, but i really really love the sound of it, it sounds just like a touring car, no fartsy sounds, 100% pure power.
ps. on a separate note, i believe i have now increased my horsepower by 50riceboyhps!

How much did it cost you? I've been thinking about doing the same thing... Post as much info as you can
Can I be out the door at under $500 with everything?

Well i had bought a pacesetter exhaust before this so all i did was have them cut the muffler piece of sh*t off and then weld in a new piece so it would cut towards the drivers side, i imagine you should be able to get everything done under 500. the 5zigen is in the range of 280, the welding cost me 120. so that was 400 and the crappy paceshitter was 115 so im definitely sure you could just get the muffler shop to do the whole cat back piping for under 200 bucks. Just go to moneke and tell em you want a 2.5" diameter pipe, cat back and then tell em to weld in the new exhast, an easier way would be to simply have them weld in the exhaust the way it was ment to go on which is exiting on the passenger side.
its easy, pay attention,if you look under the car from the header all the way back the piping go to the pasenger side first and then make a angle to exit in the driver, well if you look under before the piping makes the first turn(behind the full tank)you can route the piping in the opposite side making the piping do the angle over the rear arm in the driver side and still exit in the driver sice but without to much problem, clean and cheap, here in phily they charge 125.00 for the whole piping in the way you want without the mufler,it will look like the hks drager exhaust ,think and look and you will understand
Is an exhaust worth the money? I've got an AEM intake with a K&N filter that I just got on ebay that is on it's way here... that's about it. Would I be able to notice a considerable performance increase? What would it do besides make it louder? What can I expect from the intake alone? And the intake with the exhaust?

I got the same setup, I got the axle back for $100, then went to the muffler shop and had them put on 2.25" exhaust piping for about $90. Its pretty loud especially
on the highway at 5000 rpms. HondaCRX, dont plan on it quieting down anytime soon

I just got my Civic back from having a complete custom exhaust done and I've got to say I'm pretty stoked. Since they don't make many kits for 88-91 4dr Civics, I got set up with the best muffler shop here in Santa Barbara and worked with the owner to get the best possible setup. I ended up with custom bent 2 1/4" mandrel piping, a high flow performance cat, a performance MagnaFlow muffler mounted in the stock sideways position and a stainless twin 2 1/2" tip that fills the bumper cutout perfectly. In addition, they took off my A pipe, which had come from one of my friend's extra motors, cut it, shortened it by 1 3/4" so that it didn't hang down too much, and re-welded the pipe. All this set me back $468 with taxes and includes a lifetime warranty on the muffler. I know I could have had it done cheaper at a less-reputable shop, but I figure if I'm going to do it, I might as well do it right.
As to the exhaust note, my setup is completely quiet at idle, and really kicks in about 3k. Although I haven't taken the car to the races with the exhaust yet, I did get a chance to open it up and could really tell the difference. (It probably also helps that my old cat was nearly completely carbon-blocked!). I would highly reccommend to anyone doing exhaust that they make sure to replace the cat (unless you're going no-cat) when you do your exhaust system...
Unfortunately, since I should pay off a couple of credit cards, I'm not going to be able to put any real money into my Civic until January or February when I'm hoping to be able to afford CP-035's, tires and do a rear disc brake swap. Until then I'll have to be content to read what everyone else is able to do to their rides...
