Turbo my d16z6???...
yea i guess....wont last very long..ven if you keep it at low boost pressures.....z6 bottom ends are not made to handle much more compression or abuse...you can joy ride for a while until the rings give out, snap a connecting rod...destroy a piston..ect. if you want longer lasting and safe boosting...built your bottom end first.

I have been boosting my Z6 (stock block) for almost 4 years now. The last year it has seen 10psi+ daily. The motors can hold their own IF they are properly tuned. Mine was tuned on Hondata by myself.

impressive,
but that IS on the better side of things.
10psi daily is a bit much on a stock d16.
i'd say 6-7psi will definetely last plenty long.
not everyone can afford hondata afterall.

With any decent turbo set up you should be running these times easily.

im actually gonna be turbo'n mine , should have it in, in about 1 month... but my idea was to just turbo it now on stock internals, buy another bottom end or a d16z6 for that matter(since there dirt cheap), rebuild it and then switch. and you will still have an extra just incase something happened

What turbo, and ratios are you using , plus management?
Thanks. I'm trying to basically get a z6 turbocharged with not much done to it, a simple good setup with afc hack plus bigger injectors into 12's daily driven. I use to hate d-series or sohc's for that matter. Now turbochargin them pretty much stock and them being quick, has made me seen the light. Cheap, at least then a stock b series or H stock. fast, and pretty much reliable if you take care of them, tuning, etc.

motor is completely stock.....its a 94 ex coupe....hopefully in a hatch (cx/vx) it would yeild high 12s with a lot of grip.
I'm using a greddy 15g kit right now, 10-9 psi on the blue box....stock fuel system except for a holley/walbro fuel pump.

you can boost stock bottom block safely up to 15 psi daily/well tuned/intercooled/larger injectors. i've seen a lot of people accomplish this already. the life of your motor no matter how many lbs you're running all depends on your driving habits. you could boost only 6 psi daily and be a nut of a driver and blow your rings/motor within a few months. or you could boost 15 psi daily and be conservative driver and have your motor last for years. just my .02

...if your tuning sucks...
While it's not really debatable that the D16's not as robust as a B series, as long as you're tuning is good and you don't get too greedy with the boost, there's no reason why it can't be fairly reliable..
Just my $0.02 worth
