ok I was pulling out my injectors and the black cap on the end of injector for cly #1 was completely missing. was it injested into my engine or what? and where would i be able to find a replacement? thanks.

 

Napa or Honda can sell you new gaskets and seals.

 

You can probably find a replacement at any local fuel injection shop.

its not the rings or seals its the black cap on the tip where it sprays.

dont know of any but i guess i can check the mitsu dealer.

I was just concerned about a piece of plastic going into the combustion chamber and what it would do to my engine.

 

I bought a set of DSm 450s from a guy on here and noticed the other day that one of my little black caps is cracked.

Probably yours was too and just fell off.

Anyone know the function of these caps? And would a mitsu dealer just sell the little plastic caps?

the pintle is there to protect the tip from damage, it has no effect to the injectors spray...

Nah I checked them all before I bought them for cracks, but yes it appears it did just fall off. I too am wondering if the dealer sells the intividual caps.

 

you dont need the caps,they just protect the tip form getting damaged,but once they are installed they cant be damaged anyway.

 

One of mine is cracked so I'm going to try to yank it off (carefully) so this **** doesn't happent to me, lol

 

I've never tried getting them from Mitsubishi, but places like the fuel injector clinic (search google) do have them. I've replaced a bunch in my day.

If it went through your motor and everything is ok, don't worry about it. It's surely not going to make it to the turbine wheel in one piece....

It helps to bump the compression ratio up for more efficient combustion!
