Default burning oil.

LS-Vtec 11.5:1 comp. no smoke at idle & cruise, leak & compression check is good but it burned about 3quarts of oil before 2000miles. everything looks ok. no oil puddles but some smoke at full throttle.. cant tell what color though.
any ideas?

i am definitly interested in what some of the responses are. i have an ls/vtec 10.5:1 soon to be 11.6:1 and i have the same problem. i notice the most smoke when i have been riding a gear down (after downshifting) then i get on the gas again. big puff. pisses me off to no end

Check your pcv valve. I burned two quarts in 1000 miles before I replaced mine and I havn't burned a drop since. Also you should get your car tuned with hondata because you will burn a little bit of oil when your running to rich.

your rings might be wearing, and your encountering blowby, where the oil is pressing past your pistons. check your pcv valve, and past that switch to a thicker weight oil then go from there it could mean a rebuild though...
