what are the symptoms and cures
my motor just started this week a weird knock
but not under load but idling at about 2k rpms
sounds like a bad axles but the car isnt moving
might it be valve tap?
car runs mad still
what test might I do for it?

you`d hear a rod knock at all rpm`s.

 

yeah mine kinda sounded like a marble rattling around in the engine. it was a little decieving, it sounded like it was rattling around the head. apparently detonation sounds similar, but you can tell the two apart normally. if your car only makes the marble rattle sound when your car gets hot it may be detonation(when my roomates car was detonating he said it sounded like a diesel engine winding out) if its all the time, then it could be rod knock. both smack of bad things to come.

 

if it is a vtec engine the marble sound in the head could also be a cracked LMA

 

ok i found the issue
after receiving it back from the body shop there were a few loose items
namely the heat shield for the header was loose
not a rattle sound but knocking
woohoo
no hurt motor
and found others loose too
trans mount bolts
NOT GOOD

 

If u had a rod knock, would that lower ur compression or would ur compression stil be good???

 

compression might remain the same but there will be a loud knocking in the motor
