How big of a spring rate can agx's withstand?
Just wondering because i recently attended my first autocross and my stock gc spring rates are hella weak. I was thinking of going with a 400f, 500r or 450f, 550r. This is also my daily driver.

I've run 350's, 400's, and 450's on them even at lower than the 1.5" they say to lower and have had good results.
The civic i ran at the peru NT had kyb's on it and did pretty good for the owner and co-driver(me) to get 3rd and 4th in it in STS. The car also had a couple other 2nd place finishes at prosolos too. I'll also add that the only car that beat us was shenfields on the advanced designs.
I personally like the kybs and chose them for my new car.

Me too. On a bumpy track. Oh well.

I would suggest getting the koni. More expensive but the warranty is void on the KYB if you lower it too much (if you need the warranty). Plus the koni is rebuildable and re-valveable. I don't think the AGX is neither but I may be wrong.

ditto, on my old car i had 400f/450r with agx and they felt underdamped, there was little to no noticable change in each setting of the shock also

Hey ****,
I did the exact same thing you are talking about. I had an integra and put agx with 350f 450r to use as a daily driver and auto-x. About 8 months of doing so all four of my agx where blown. Now, I'm wishing I still had my stock suspension. Speaking of which, if you have an integra please sell me your stock suspension.

Thats odd, my prelude raced last year on AGX's, 400/500 and did pretty well.. Matter of fact, my prelude street car had AGX's with 3 years on it.. Still are fine.. with, gasp, 400 and 500 rates..

Ryan,
If you really like the AGXs from that car, they are soon available as they are the first thing that are coming off it. I'm sure Phil will give you a deal on them. Although we didn't have time to do it before Nationals, its getting KONIs doubles very soon. I called Brian right after Phil got the car to hassle him about selling my old friend a car with junk shocks on it.

somehow, i dont think its the springs that are weak. if its your first autocross, i dont think you can be at a proper judgement yet if its not proper spring rates. i think non-customized GC spring rates are quite stiff for daily driving anyway. its probably your shocks are too weak. but still, just drive it. you can learn in any setup, when you upgrade your equipment youll appreciate it even more.
ugh does that mean my front agx with 450lb will blow when i start competing? been daily driving for more than a year fine.. ah well all the more reason to get some yellows to match the rear.
