Default Brake Master Cylinder Upgrade

I have a 95 Civic SI with ABS. The ABS pump took a **** and the Master Cylinder also needed replacement. I decided to rip the ABS out and all the line and sensor (I saved 27lb.).Keeping my four wheel disc brakes, I will be replacing the brake lines with brake line out of a cx to bypass the ABS pump. What should I do with the Brake Booster, Brake Master Cylinder, Proportion Value? I have hard about a 1inch Master Cylinder, what car does it come in?

You can go with a 1" MC/Booster from a 94+ GS(R). Get any double (inverted) flare lines/unions from Advance Auto.
Or you can get a 15/16" MC/Booster from a 94+ RS (non-ABS).
Grab the prop valve from the RS. I think there are some other cars with the 40/40 prop valve, but I don't know which ones.

You can keep the ABS and upgrade the master cylinder/booster if you'd like. I also have a working GSR m/c 15/16ths available.

Or you can convert to non-abs by removing them, and get an RS M/C if you would like to upgrade.

1" master cylinder came on 98+ gsr and type r's. they are abs i believe. the largest non abs master cylinder is 15/16

for any integra brake master cylinder you also need to replace the brake booster. brake boosters arent abs specific, its everything from the mastercylinder down. proportion valves, any non-abs car with 4 wheel disk will work.

90-93 teg non abs master/boosters work too... direct bolt in... No re-bending or moving lines to fit... The prop valve doesn't bolt up but it's easy enough to mount it to a bracket and the bracket to the stock location.

do you have to rebend lines to fit for 94+ master cylinder? i thought (or more so heard) it was teh same fittings. thena gain. the 90-93 mastercylinder will bolt up to the STOCK booster just fine, and those are 15/16 as well

I believe all 90-00 non-abs 15/16ths master/boosters will bolt straight up... No bending...

The 1" requires bending...

The 15/16ths master WILL NOT bolt up to the stock civic booster... it would if it could go in upsidedown (at least mine was that way)...

For ANY of the swaps you need both the master and booster I believe...

b18c5-eh2's write up about the 91 ex MC, says it does not require a booster swap. Someone posted a link in this thread in an earlier reply.

A 15/16ths M/C from a 1991 civic ex sedan will bolt up to the stock civic booster and the lines. I know because I have one bolted to my stock 5th gen cx booster right now.

91 Civic EX master here.

Don't get rid of ABS. The minor weight savings pale in comaprison to the life savings.

Anyone got anything to say about an OEM master cylinder vs. an Auto-Zone replacement master cylinder? If they're pretty much the same in quality, I'll go with the AZ MC, because it's cheaper.

Kalokohan, how's the difference in stock vs. the EX one? Is it a worthwhile upgrade?

Well it's not like I just replaced the MC, I replaced the MC because I got an 11" brake upgrade from Fastbrakes, using 11" brembo rotors, GSR calipers and Hawk Pads. When I first did the brake upgrade and left the stock MC, my pedal would almost hit the ground during hard braking. After the 91 civic EX MC install, my pedal feel is better than ever, i don't have to apply as much pressure on the pedal to get full braking power.
Not the best pic to show brakes but here is the 11" Brake Upgrade from Fastbrakes...the caliper is so close to the wheel, I can barely squeeze a penny in between.

Who or where can I get the 1" MC, and for how much? What is the biggest brake setup that I can stuff under a 15" rim? or 16"? The brake shouldn't hit my 13" Bogerts right?

Thanks for all the help guys!!!!!!

Sorry for the jack but, since this subject is on upgradeing BB and MC's.. I got a quickie question. I did a 5 lug conversion on my 93 EX coupe. Is it ok if I use an LS - BB & MC with the 95 Civic EX ABS portioning valve? Thats what I was told to use.
