Ive noticed the Full length tube turbo manifolds are anywhere from 800-1500$ while the log styles are from 300-500... Whats the big difference... spool time... horsepower... what is it?

 

tubular manifolds are better in directing the air. Its similar to how there are some good headers and bad headers. The length, dimeter etc of the piping matter in the end. There are equal length tubular manifolds, and then there are your manifodls that equalize tubes 1 and 4, and then 2 and 3.

And yes, it does yeild more horsepower/torque, spool etc.

 

ok, i can understand that... well heres what im looking at.... and is the horsepower torque output 400$ worth better then the logstyle(what kinda numbers at say 8psi on a H23 if you can please)? thanx for the help

At 8psi, I seriously doubt you'll notice a difference.

 

well assuming i would do a buildup and run say 14-16psi later on with a T3T4 57trim (decent flow i guess) would it be worth it to go ahead and buy it with my original 8psi setup? i meen, its got a lifetime warrenty which kicks major *** so i wont have to worry about it lasting

 

Since I sold my SST a week ago, Ive been slowly building this bad boy. I like it Even w/the longer IC piping, Im still getting 6 psi at 4100ish rpm(used to be 4500ish w/the SST).
I should be able to use this when the engine goes rear-ward, so Ill let you all know how that goes.
So in a word...if you are going to build up on your turbo setup, get a nice manifold now, because all of the rest of the setup is pretty much based on the manifold.
*Im not saying to "Buy my manifold!", Im just telling you from experience what Ive learned...

tubular manifolds look better then cast iron ones. other than that, iono...

 

you can make more than enough power with either type...the rest is up to you to decide if the difference in $ is warranted

 

Yeah, thanx everyone, i think il end up going with the long tube... Hey tinker... is that a sidewinder... thats what i was lookin at, ill get to keep my AC ... i just cant imagine the log style flowing as goog as a long tube... plus with the turbo a lil further from the block, temps might be a touch cooler... and with long tube, the heat will dissipate throughout a lil better instead of concentrated on 1 log... nothing big like 10-15degrees, but every lil bit helps. If anyone else has an opinion id love to hear it

 

It would be easier to make more power with an tubular length manifold. Yet the log style manifolds can yeild huge power numbers. 450hp+ with no issues.

 

Actually, the tubular manifolds put out ALOT more heat then the log manifolds. A vented hood wouldnt be a bad idea to help dissipate some of the heat...

 

well, im still lookin at the sidewinder becasue it looks like a great manifold but, what kind of power gains are involved at the same medium Psi (8-14) between a longtube VS a log style... and spool up time as well? please and are there any log style that keep Ac? does anyone have expereince with both who can give me there opinoin

 

what would be a good rule of thumb to use when decideing if you would benifit with a upgrade of turblar

same BOOST and setup just retuned. upgrading and spending $400+ on a nice tube mainfold would be well worth it if the gains were reasonable, but some comsumers might be dissapointed if they only have a 220-250whp setup and spent extra money on a NEW manifold only to find out they they got better spool but only gained like 5whp and 5tq.

as the WHP goes up , I'm sure the gains will be more worthwile.
