Civic Owner needs help with ACCORD swap....
OKay well I'm strictly a honda B/D series guy and I'm trying to help a friend do a swap in his daily driven accord that took a dump 3 months ago.....he's been taking the bus since then and he brought it up to me that he'd pay me to do a swap in the car he'd pay for parts etc etc and that he didn't care how long it would take...just aslong as he got a working car outta it.....well I said sure why not I know some stuff with time and HT I'll be able to pull it offf......so I need som reasurrance....
Car as it sits broken:
96 4door accord LX (f22b2 SOHC w/ 5speed tranny)
-----I asume obd2......?
-----I asume non vtec since the valve cover just says honda......?
New motor we found...
95 SOHC VTEC (F22b1)
----I was told its OBD1 and that it was an AUTO
THE SWAP THE WAY I SEE IT!!
Pull the old motor and reuse the entire intake manifold on the new motor, so that I can keep it obd2........well I'd need a new Dizzy off a 96 and up EX correct and that will plug right up I assume?? THe old 5speed tranny bolts right up I"m sure of it......hmm what else...the ECU.....I'd need a 96 and up EX one correct?? but since the car is non vtec...I'd still have to run "vtec" wires?? or is it like some civic that come wires for vtec already.......
Thanks sorry if that makes no sence...I'm in the zone and I type like I'm talking..haha....thanks fellas....I hope to learn from this experience aswell as you guys.....
BTW: my first swap if I didn't mention that...

Sell the other engine and buy this engine for a straight swap. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=646641
Ummm if it were local I would, but we picked up a 95 engine for 200 bucks complete........so thats not an option.....
TTT for real help thanks!!!
TTT for real help thanks!!!
The easiet way is a OBDII to OBDI conversion harness. That would pretty much eliminate most of your problems. But you would still need to wire for Vtec.
Yeah, but we are trying to stay obd2 for the emission reason..his is a plug test not roller test......its his daily dirver nothing he will be racing......

This is correct. You will have to run a wire for VTEC though.
