GSR Crank in a B18B/A block
ok....i'm looking for some insight on this setup. for one thing it doesn't make sense to me...putting a GSR crank in an LS block makes the stroke shorter compared to an LS crank. any other opinions? i don't think anyone here does this setup but i just wanted your opinions on this...thanks much guys...
It's not a real popular setup. Destroking would lower piston speeds and raise r/s slightly. If you wanted to rev higher for some reason it might be somewhat helpful. If say you had a head that could breathe beyond what you could safely rev the stock LS bottom end.

i use the same set up im car ls block with gsr crank and rods and it worked out great...i made 221 to the wheels just using oem parts in the bottom end
Not needed, Ive seen B18A/B blocks with the stock 89mm cranks spin as high as 10,500.. If you calculate the actual difference in piston speeds between the 2 its really a small difference...

wth??? do you have dyno plots of this motor? i'd like to see some proof of this 221 whp...what dyno were you using at the time?

I don't even bother calling people on obvious drive-by bs like that.
You mean I spent all that money on my 85mm GSR motor with head work and stg 3 cams for just 2whp more than our hero here who just dropped a GSR crank in his LS motor? Yeah right.

bsing huh...it was on a bosch dyno at a place called zero factory in torrance it was tuned by erick aguilar...i dont know how to post pics sorry im a rookie tell me how to post and i would gladly post my dyno sheet

thats not the only thing i did...alaniz full blueprinted head 5mm oversize valves and skunk stage 3 cams...oh yeah ericks ecu and his drag header

what do you mean... are you refering to the valve hitting the piston (0.5mm)

I assume you mean alaniz full p&p, valve job, blueprinting, .5mm oversize valves(which I don't believe Joe recommends NA). If you stuck with the stock 81mm B18a/b pistons(you just said "OEM") and went with skunk2 stg3 cams your dynamic compression would be pathetic. I assume you're talking about a frankenmotor, but you left out which head you used. If I assume LS block, B16 head, GSR crank & rods, b18a/b pistons, skunk2 stg3s...then you static c/r is 9.3:1 and your dynamic c/r is a very low 8.19@1000ft altitude. Given that compression I don't think you could make 221whp, unless you left out a nitrous bottle or other supercharger.
If you want to be taken seriously with your claims then don't just blurt out...oh I got 221whp w/ that crank. Tell us what you did it with, or someone's sure to question the authenticity of your claim.

no not ls piston ctr pistons wich last time i checked were made by honda therefore oem piston...to be exact the c/r was 12.2:1 according to joe.......call him up if you want and ask im pretty sure he can tell u about it

Right, then why not just say that to begin with? It's like pulling teeth. Which head? What redline? Ah n/m, it's obviously a secret motor.
Shouldn't be 12.2:1 compression with what you mentioned thus far btw. Should be 11.75 - 12:1 depending on which head, head milling, head gasket, and valves you used.

omniman has a similar setup but uses the b20 block. from what he stated is he destroked the b20 with a gsr crank...... that is one person that I would listen to.
Currently, I have a set of gsr crank/rods with pct pistons in my stock B18A. I almost beat a RSX type S the other day. I lost to him by .05s, but that's because my r/t was so shitty. So far I had 900+miles without any problems.

no its not a secret motor but it did take us like 3 months to build ,everything was measured from deck height to chamber cc's... i used a b16 head and no the chambers arent welded honda 3 layer headgasket(.030) and supertech flat valves, head was milled enough to clean the surface no crazy milling i cant afford bent valves...i would tell you the chamber cc's but i forgot. is that a little better
