I added up the reciepts to take them off taxes.. I almost died! It was scary as hell. I have over $10k in the car and I MIGHT get $4k back.. Its depressing. I also hoped to drive it a bit more than I did... Thats the point that sucks to me the most ..
my dads company could. I would just sign some paperwork and make it an advertising busines expense. And just like that the tax man gets stiffed out of $10k
lovely world of acounting

I don't know the answer to that, seriously. Maybe it's in the presentation. Where else have you tried to sell it? I have seen it on HT and IT. Someone local maybe? I know you've been trying.

It's so friggin hard to sell stuff, even if it's grossly underpriced. Good luck with selling it for the price you want...especially on e-bay.
Edit: Oh yeah...I forgot to express something: depreciation is a BITCH.

too bad I blew $1000 on acrx as a winter beater.

Ummm... Hmmmm.. Well... Umm... I gotta ask....
How did you put 10k into a apparently stock crx???
I take it you didn't do the work yourself? In that case, paying someone 7k to install 3k worth of gear is not a good deal, in case you didn't know... If you did do the work yourself, I can only assume that paying retail+++ for a part is a hobby of yours?
Not trying to be a dick or anything, but I'd seriously have issues with spending $10k on a car that STILL looks and performs like a $2500 car....
Just MO,

For somebody not even trying, you sure did a good job.

Its fine to ask..
Most parts were hard to get.. Aditionally parts like new Fenders, trim pieces, etc from the dealer, which we all know isnt cheap. That and new belts, hoses etc adds up.
Additionally some work wasnt cheap. The Cage door bars and petty bar to say the least.. Other small things just seemed to continuously add to the bil.. Before you know it BAM your @ 10k...

An outstanding question ... for someone who doesn't have the faintest idea what it actually costs to build a racing car. Ignorance is truly bliss.
This car is a HELL of a deal at the current asking price.

Ahh yes, sweet ignorant bliss, how I love it so....
I understand about the little stuff adding up.. It always does...
I understand there are a LOT of hidden costs to build a race car, due to safety measures and equipment requirements and what not.
However, I'd still have to argue that the same car could be built for much MUCH MUCH less then 10k...
I don't think anyone could argue a counter-point to that with any validity...
Sorry if my previous comments offended the owner of this beautiful machine(it truly is), or anyone else, it's been a rough day and I should'nt have taken the tone I did in my previous post.
My apologies.

Easy..
COuld it be done for less? yes and no
Yes:
I could have bought rusty fenders, used grade 1 bolts instead of grade 8, I could have bought steel rims, I could have put crappy exhaust parts on, I could have only used 1 bolt to hold the drivers seat down.(ok thats extreme but still) Go price new Honda Fenders... $199 a side.. Junkyard ones with rust are about $10.. I dont think its the way to go. Junk yard CV axle.. $10.. New one is a shitload more..
As you can see money could be saved on almost everything that was done to the car. The fact is I did not cut corners because I intended to race it for a long time.. And it never happened. Simple as that.
Cheap may be the initial cost but long term what if your about to take your first race win and then all of a sudden your axles snap? Would that not suck to have lost out because you were a cheap bastard at some point in time ? I think it would!

You are very, very sorely mistaken.
Sorry dude. Racecars are not cheap to build, now matter how cheap you start (like a busted *** crx).
And then once you start racing, the initial build of the car (even at $10,000) becomes a very small expense of the whole picture after 2 years.

Not meaning to hijack the thread but where did you get the sunroof welded? I have a 1994 GSR im building and I need to fill in the sunroof
I did it myself.. Nobody would undertake the project beause they said it couldnt be done (welding such different thickness metals..) they were wrong... physics of welding> them...
If you dont mind giving a basic run down on what you used to fill the panel, I was thinking of cutting the area of the roof out of an RS(no sunroof) and then using that for the metal to weld in. Its a shame you are leaving or Id pay ya to do it.
