Lights dim screaming noise
I've done an ls swap in a civic obdII. It starts up fine. When I get on the gas my console light gets brighter then when I let it off around 1,500 rpm my light dim and I get this screaming sound. Sound like something just got done spooling. Anyone knows what's wrong with my car? thanks -mike
It seems to me thats its your alternator. But i cant explain the sound.
To test your alternator ive been told that you keep your car running and disconnect your positive battery terminal. Weak alternatror results in the car shutting off.

anyone else can help me with the souund? I also have another problem my crank sensor on the 96 ls motor has 3 wires instead of two. The extra black wire coverd with blue and red color wire inside I don't know where that goes does anyone know what i'm talking about? its throwing a code 54.

It's the alternator. Are you hearing the sound through the stereo speakers?? this is the whine that is produced in the electrical current, itself. Same thing as if you had a stereo amplifier that's grounded badly (ground loop isolator fixes this..)
anyway.i heard the same sound right as my alternator went ka-put. All the diodes were blown out (the "electricity catchers" that draw energy from magnetic coiling being spun around it..). as the dioded go, they make a sound in the electrical current..grr.

have you checked the wiring harness itself? If any uncovered wires are making contact with each other that may be your problem.

It's not coming from my speakers. The speaker are fine. It sounds like a bearing? something out of the hood it only makes the winny sounds around 1,500 Rpm. All my wires are pretty much covered and taped. At the same point my light dim a little and if i tap ont he gas it'll brighten. It's weird Thanks for the help. Anyone else got this problem please leave a touch.
thats exactly what im going through.....a whining noise....
well accoring to i think the helms or haynes....
turn the car on......if the car makes noise...let it....pull the plug out of the alternator.....theres only 2 connections to the alternator and the one you pull should be the one thats clipped...if you notice...like i have....once you remove that...the sound goes away....wierdest thing....and also..the battery light (if your's is on) will turn off....
if thats the case.....your regulator and diodes on the alternator are out.....there's other ways to test this but its too long...
and i think your sound problem is the worst.....
i cant explain why the sound goes away...i thought the alternator bearings were bad...but for some reason the sound comes up when the alt is plugged in and the alt is bad...iono....PM if you need more info cuz im still dealing with my alternator..

It's a bad bearing.
Either from your distributor or water pump.
Figure out which side of the motor its coming from and fix it ASAP.
If its the waterpump, it'll sieze eventually and snap the timing belt thus ******* up your head.
