y8 intake manifold swap PROBLEMS
ok, wtf!! me and kingtut33 swapped a y8 intake manifold onto my 2000 lx the other day... we got everything on, everything connected, but we had the usual problems, high idle, jumpy idle and a CEL.... well, we tried and tried to figure it out, made sure all vacuum lines were connected, made sure the sensors on the TB were in the right spots and still no luck... so i took it to a mechanics shop here in town that specializes in imports, explained to them whe the deal was, that it was a STOCK PART that came off another civic, and showed them the symptoms... well, they've had it for TWO days now, and it has stumped all the ASE certified mechanics that work there... WTF! so now the dude is trying to tell me that he doesn't think that the manifold will work on the car.... ok... that's why it's an OEM peice... the guy is like, "we're spending alot of hours on this car, i just don't know what to tell you"
so what should i do, i can't figure out the problem, and they can't figure it out, i don't want to swap the y7 back over, cause that'd be just a pain in the ***... the only thing i can think of is to take it by the honda dealer, but i'm fresh out of lube!!

From my understanding you are supposed to use the Y7 TB on that manifold. Also make sure that the manifold isn't from an automatic or is depending on what type of tranny is in your car.
i did that, swapped over the y7 TB...
one more thing, i'm about to go pick my car up from this shop, and i'm kinda worried they're going to try and charge me labor.... can they do this seeing as how they did nothing to fix my car??? can they charge me anything if they didn't fix the problem that i brought it in there for????

I dunno man. You could always refuse to pay since they were unable to resolve the problem. Probably should have established that sooner.
Sorry can't help you more.

if i take it by the dealership, should i say anything about the y8 swap?? or just start the car and let them see the problems?? i mean they're obvioulsy going to see my short ram intake, but i'm worried that the dealership isn't going to want to work on a car that has had something like this done to it... even though, once again, it is a stock honda part
I would take everything apart and start the whole swap over looking over everything. If you swapped over the y7 throttle body and the sensors were fine the car should idle and run fine. It is always easier to put on the y8 auto manifold because you don't have to change the throttle body but that is a suggestion. Good luck.
What did the manifold come off of?
A 99-00 Y8 manifold will have provisions for air-injection. That manifold has small holes feeding into the injector hole in the manifold right above the port exits on the manifold.
If the Y8 manifold was a manual tranny car, I think you will need to block off the manifold mounted idle motor location.

good call
I had a vac leak from this- the 99-00 use a different IM to head gasket than the 96-98

Yup...messed me up bad when I did the swap. I JB Welded them shut with no problems to this day (knock on wood)

That doesn't cause a high surging idle...that would be from a vacuum leak.
Not hooking up the idle motor with the right connector would make it idle lower or shut off.

i was gonna say that before i saw your post
there is a how to on here that shows you how to block off the IM holes
