Default Just installed JDM ITR 4-1 and cat

All I can say is, man. What a fun afternoon. I love putting new parts on the GSR. I ordered my JDM ITR 4-1 from Heeltoeauto.com for a great price, brand new. I got an SMSP high flow cat made to fit inbetween the header and my greddy evo catback. Everything fit like stock. I was too happy. If the header and cat did no good powerwise, it definately dropped a lot of weight off the car. The stock header weighs a ton compared to the jdm one. The new one looks so much nicer too Maybe i'll take some pics tomorrow.

What ya'll really want to know: How it felt. There was a definate increase in the butt dyno. It pulls much harder through all rpms. It really picks up though when vtec kicks in. The sound is definately different. The exhuast is almost a little more subdued during cruising, but when I hit the gas at all music notes instantly begin to sing. And loud do they sing! It is a little louder and more of a higher pitch than just with teh catback. I love it though.

Only thing that pissed me off today was during the install I was inspecting my AEM CAI. I noticed from under the car it had been rubbing on somethign near where it goes into the fender well. It was bumped in and had a hole at least the size of a dime in it. Man does that suck. I think it's time to lose the AEM and find somethign new. Anyone have any ideas? I want somethign that will work well with my setup(jdm 4-1, 2.5 carsound, greddy evo catback).

Awesome I got the same setup soon. Just waiting for the cat to come in so I can install it. Can't wait to hear it wail once I get everything on.

Isn't your Greddy a 60mm exhaust? 60mm = 2.36"

2.5" header ==> 2.5" cat ==> 2.36"

You're stepping down...

Replace AEM with the ICEBOX!!! I have no other mods on my GSR but when I switched from the AEM to the ICEBOX I did not notice any drop in power. Plus you have no chance of hydrolock with the ICEBOX

Yea Yea yea, I know....I don't think it will cause a huge powerloss or anything. maybe one day i'll get a bigger exhuast. I'm only I/H/E/C so I might be losing 1-2 hp. No biggie.

I wanted to take pics but just remembered my camera is back at school . Maybe if I find my rents digi cam and figure out how to work it i'll take some pics. It looks exactly like that picture up there

I am so pissed with my AEM rubbing. That CAI has caused nothign but problems(although i do love the sounds it makes, especially when I had no aftermarket exhuast). I'll definately have to buy a new intake and trash this one before I come home for winter break. I really dont' know what to get. Icebox maybe? Would a short ram be no good with this setup? I miss my throttle response. The CAI gives the worst throttle response ever.

I must say, VTEC ******* screams when 5500rpms rolls around. Man, modifying the cah is way too addicting. Now I want ITR cams like that other guy has, hahaha. Maybe a skunk 2 manifold as well. lol. I wish I had more money!

Give me some more ideas on an intake.

O yea, I didnt measure my cat, but it was probably about the length of the long ends of a sheet of computer paper. What is that, 11"? It was definately noticeable shorter than stock.

1fasthb said the DTR header gave him huge gains.

12secB18acivic said the DTR header slapped on, gave him a 10wHP gain OVER his JDM 4-1 header.

I've read alot of good reviews from people who switched from their JDM header to DTR or SMSP header.

Danny's Dyno sheets show him making 10+wHP OVER the JDM 4-1 header.

No tuning. Just changed between JDM 4-1 header and DTR header.

That DTR header sounds cool. I bet it's very pricey though huh? Since it's compared to SMSP. Don't you have to tell them your setup and it's a custom made header?

Yea they're a bit pricey. $875.00 I believe, but everyone who has one said it was well worth the money.

Sounds good. That's something I'd look into when I'm the market for a header soon. Pricey but if it's worth it, what the hell. I'm still considering the JDM 4-1 now, in case I can't stumble across that much cash.

hmm, $500 more for those gains...I would rather spend my money on cams or intake manifold, better yet, go turbo
